We all want our children to grow up to become responsible young adults and it is perfectly natural to worry about the decisions that our 10-14 year olds will be making.
That’s why we’re offering the Strengthening Families Program to our community.
Over a seven-week course, parents and their sixth graders will learn important information and have an opportunity to practice skills together in a fun, supportive atmosphere. Each session begins with a free family meal. Completing this family program may increase communication, family bonding and joint problem solving skills; and help keep your child from making wrong decisions in regards to peer pressure and the possibility of drug and alcohol use.
We have served approximately 310 families since the program’s inception in 2011.
Funding Opportunities
The cost to operate the seven-week course of Strengthening Families Program is roughly $5,000. Funding for this program comes from Dauphin County Department of Drug and Alcohol Services.

“The Strengthening Families Program helped me to understand how my child thinks and feels about things at his age and also taught me tools to help with the daily struggles of life.”
